Early Life:

Born in 1964 to Sri A V Ramana Murty and Smt. Kalyani, both of them who were Carnatic music rasikas and enthusiasts. She was brought up in the city where art flourished, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.

B.Sc. from M R College, VIZIANAGARAM in 1983. Diploma in Music from Andhra University with Distinction & 1st position in 1984. M.A.(Music) from Andhra University with 1st position in 1993.

Career:

Manda Sudharani is well-versed in the syntax and grammar of Carnatic classical idiom, rooted in classicism. She has performed at major carnatic events.

Rani's treatise on "Kalpita Sangeetam as the basis of Manodharma Sangeetam" resulted in the Ministry of HRD and Department of Culture, Government of India, awarding her a Junior Fellowship.  She had also performed on All India Radio.

Sudharani's Contribution:

a) Significant Work in the field of ‘Pallavi Singing’.

Sudha Rani is the person to popularize pallavis of all varieties since 1980s andbrought gravity to the format of the concert in these areas.

She rendered the archaic music feat of ‘Shat Kaala Pallavi’ Pallavi in 6 speeds.      

Gave the The 1st Public Performance of the same in Maharajah’s Government Music College, Vizianagaram in 1987. 

It was also performed in reputed Sabhas likeSri Krishna Gana Sabha (Chennai), Karnataka Gana Kala Parishat (Bangalore), Visakha Music Academy (Visakhapatnam) and won the accolade & appreciation of Vidwans. 

‘Shat Kaala Pallavi’ is archived by All India Radio, Vijayawada.

 Born on 19 January 1964 at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Shrimati Manda Sudha Rani received her initial 

training in Carnatic vocal music from K. Rangacharyulu and M. Seshamani and later honed her talent under the 

tutelage of Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao. 

Shrimati Manda Sudha Rani is known for her mastery in executing intellectually rich Pallavi compositions 

in rare and intricate talas with flawless ease and perfection. Her significant contributions to Indian classical 

music include the creation of Ragamalika, Graha-bheda, and Gati-bheda Pallavi, each renowned for their 

unique brilliance and aesthetic charm. Notably, Shrimati Manda Sudha Rani possesses the remarkable ability to 

demonstrate two talas simultaneously with both her hands while singing Pallavi, showcasing her exceptional 

talent. Her Swara Kalpana in complex Ragas like Malavi, Kadanakutuhalam, and Chenchukambhoji has garnered 

widespread acclaim and reverence. She has trained many students. A top-grade artist of All India Radio, she has 

performed in many prestigious music festivals in India and abroad, and has several recordings to her credit. 

She has been honoured with many titles and awards including, the Vijaya Sangeeta Ratna, the Sunaada Sudha 

Nidhi, the Sangeetha Sudhaa Nidhi, the Pallavi Award from Madras Music Academy, the M.S. Subbulakshmi 

Puraskar bestowed by Visakha Music Academy, and the Aasthaana Vidushi conferred by Mysore Sri Datta Peetham.

 Shrimati Manda Sudha Rani receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2022 for hercontribution to Carnatic vocal music.
